The purpose of this advisory is to notify travellers about the Ebola disease outbreak and inform them about preventative measures they can take and what Government is doing.

Important note for all visa/permit applicants: Visa applicants must be submitted in person as of 15th October 2014. Visas are not issued the same day, and you are required to bring a prepaid self-addressed envelope (with a tracking number) for the return of your passport.

  • Question: Do I need a yellow fever certificate?

Answer: Only applicants who previously traveled to countries that have yellow fever are required to submit the certificate.

  • Question: How many empty pages do I need to have in my passport?

Answer: At least one empty page must be reserved for stamps at the port of entry.

  • Question: What is the acceptable validity of passport to enter South Africa?

Answer: Passport MUST be valid no less than 30 days after the expiry of intended visit.
